FHO Surgery

Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) is a surgery done in dogs and cats that are experiencing hip problems that limit their mobility.  This is done for a variety of reasons.

During the procedure performed by our Board Certified Mobile Surgeon, the surgeon removes the ball of the head of the femur and over time, scar tissue develops  and a "false joint" forms relieving the pain that the animal was experiencing.

This procedure can sometimes be looked at as a "salvage procedure" when other options have been exhausted and most dogs that are candidates for this procedure are under 50 pounds.

We will be with you every step of the way to help you through the recovery process and provide you all the tools necessary to ensure your pet's comfort and speedy return to normal function.
